I was the bride who never found the invitation I wanted…
After designing my own wedding invitations, I knew I could serve brides by creating the paper suites and ordering experience I couldn’t find for myself.
I knew I could make the process less stressful and more enjoyable—that’s what I set out to do then, and what I seek to do for BLP couples now.
I loooooove paper and all things etiquette‚ but most people aren’t obsessed like me (and most brides don’t have time to learn all this from scratch).
I bridge the gap between starting from scratch and choosing off the rack, and handle everything else that comes with creating unique & beautiful wedding stationery for your celebration.
You’re spending a lot of time planning your wedding–because you want it to be perfect.
Between finding vendors, choosing your venue & decor, selecting your dress and flowers—not to mention planning your guest list, ahem!—you’re making a lot of decisions.
But I get it: you want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves, and for your friends and family to remember your wedding as an incredible day.
Since 2013, I’ve helped create more than 7,000 wedding invitations, and every single one was special & unique.
Hi, I’m Valerie—I love paper and etiquette, fueled by sweet tea and champagne, and once, I quit my dream job at a fashion magazine to start a stationery business.
When I look back on the past decade, I’ve never felt happier than the day I chose paper over Prada. This business gives me the opportunity to serve brides and celebrate marriages, and that’s the part of this work I love.
When I’m not in the studio, I’m usually hanging with my husband and two kiddos, and we love making road trips from Alabama to Disney World.

In Remembrance of Betty Joyce
I’ve always wanted to serve and empower women—but my mission starts with one amazing woman.
I named my stationery business for my aunt, Betty Joyce—a quintessentially southern woman who was an incredible cook and an even better hostess, her hospitable nature inspires the very heart of this paper shop.
After she passed away of cancer in 2012, I knew I wanted to honor her legacy with my work. Betty Lu was the nickname her foster grandchildren gave her, and birds of paradise were her favorite flower, which is why they’re also the emblem in the Betty Lu Paperie logo.
Aunt Betty showed me what it meant to be kind, generous, and thoughtful in all things.
I started my business to create heirloom wedding stationery that’s both luxurious and timeless—but I wanted to do more. This is why a portion of all my sales to organizations that make a Kingdom impact.
When you purchase from Betty Lu Paperie, your investment helps support organizations that empower women, protect the environment, and promote equality.
